The Speaker of the House of Councilors, Enaam Mayara, held talks in Rabat, with the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jin-Pyo, currently on a working visit to the Kingdom at the head of a large parliamentary delegation.
According to a press release, Mayara welcomed, during this meeting, the visit of the Korean official, which reflects the excellent relations uniting Morocco and Korea, expressing Morocco’s desire to benefit from Korean expertise, particularly in the areas of technology and renewable energies.
In a similar context, the Upper House Speaker noted that the Moroccan Development Model carried out under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI offers enormous investment opportunities for Korean businessmen, highlighting the Kingdom’s position as a gateway to Africa.
Mayar also welcomed the position of the Republic of Korea with regard to the Moroccan Sahara issue, shedding light on Morocco’s Autonomy Initiative as the only realistic basis for resolving this artificial conflict.
For his part, the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea praised the excellent political relations uniting the two friendly countries, recalling that Morocco was the first African country where Korea opened a diplomatic representation more than six decades ago.
Jin-Pyo also commended the reforms initiated by the Kingdom, highlighting the importance his country attaches to the various projects that Morocco intends to launch to strengthen infrastructure, and which could lead to fruitful partnerships between the two countries based on the win-win principle.
The Korean official affirmed, on a different note, that his country believes in the values of coexistence and peace, reiterating his country’s support for the efforts of Morocco and the United Nations (UN) to achieve a peaceful and political solution to the conflict over the Sahara.
On this occasion, the two parties agreed to intensify consultations and the exchange of visits between Moroccan and Korean parliamentarians, to boost bilateral cooperation and coordinate positions in various regional and international forums in the service of issues of common interest.
