Morocco was unanimously re-elected, on December 7, at the headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome, as representative of List A within the Board of Directors of the World Food Programme (WFP), for a one-year mandate.
The renewal of Morocco’s mandate, in the person of Morocco’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Agencies in Rome, Youssef Balla, is proof of the confidence which the Kingdom in the field of the fight against hunger and malnutrition in Africa and confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening food security and humanitarian actions at the international level.
This election took place during the 174th session of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization Council, which is underway until December 8.
Morocco has served on the WFP Executive Board since December 2020 and currently holds the position of vice-president of the FAO Council and assumes the role of Africa’s coordinator of African countries within the said body.
