The President of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), Ahmed Naser Al-Raisi, welcomed, on December 6 in Tangier, Morocco’s remarkable progress, and the efficiency and professionalism of its security institutions, which turned the Kingdom into a haven of security and stability and a serious partner in efforts to build a safer and more stable world.
In a statement to the press, on the sidelines of the opening of the 47th Arab Police and Security Leaders Conference, organized by Morocco, represented by the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), in partnership with the General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (AIMC), Al-Raisi stressed that the Kingdom’s hosting of the 93rd session of the Interpol General Assembly and this conference is an illustration of the “beneficial” and “important” role played by the Kingdom in countering transcontinental crime.
Al-Raisi noted, in this context, that the international security challenges require the establishment of a common and clear security strategy that prioritizes cross-border crime and involves all countries.
Interpol’s President also stressed the importance of optimally adopting new technologies in the fight against cross-border crime, stressing that training and rigorous use of technologies is the key to countering criminal activities.
The opening ceremony was marked by the presence of DGSN Director-General, Abdellatif Hammouchi, AIMC Secretary General, Mohammad Bin Ali Kuman, the President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences, Abdulmajeed bin Abdullah Albanyan, in addition to police and security leaders from 20 Arab countries and 6 international and regional organizations.
This two-day event witnesses the participation of senior security officials from several Arab countries, as well as representatives from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL), the United Nations Office of Counter Terrorism, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the African Union Mechanism for Police Cooperation (AFRIPOL), the European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Cooperation (EUROPOL), the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences and the Arab Police Sports Confederation (USAP) as well as several other organizations.
