The government and Safran group signed a framework agreement on December 5 in Rabat with the aim of supporting and developing the industrial ecosystem of aeronautics in Morocco.
Initialed by the Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, Abdellatif Miraoui, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Taoufiq Moucharraf, and the Chief Executive Officer of Safran Group, Olivier Andreis, this framework agreement is based on three guiding principles, namely the development of a quality local supply chain with the identification and development of the production capacities of Safran’s service providers and suppliers, the development of activities with high added value by expanding research and technology activities, and the development of talents and skills through training and partnerships with engineering schools and universities.
On this occasion, Minister Miraoui welcomed the Safran Group’s commitment to contributing to the development of the field of aeronautics in Morocco, and the creation of mixed units in partnership with Moroccan universities in the fields of engineering, research, and development.
For his part, Moucharraf stated that the signing of this agreement proves the competitiveness of the Moroccan aeronautical sector and the good reputation that Morocco enjoys among world leaders such as Safran, adding that this partnership unfolds new perspectives of collaboration for the development of cutting-edge technology practices.
Moucharraf further explained, “with an integration rate of more than 40% and the numerous opportunities offered by the sector, we aspire to go even further through more production activities, new engineering services, and the development of Moroccan skills.”
In a similar context, Andreis indicated that “thanks to their shared vision on the future of aeronautics, Safran and the Moroccan government are embarking on a new phase in their strategic collaboration.”
According to Andreis, this framework agreement represents the continuity of a fruitful partnership focused on the development of a robust aeronautical industrial ecosystem in Morocco.
“We are more than ever jointly committed to a pragmatic dynamic, placing talent development, industrial efficiency, innovation, and sustainability at the heart of our collaboration,” underlined Andreis.
With a 24-year presence in Morocco, Safran Group employs more than 4,200 people within 8 companies and joint ventures. The Group is a leader in the aeronautics sector and maintains strong partnerships with manufacturers, government institutions, and training centers.
