Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, held talks, on November 21 in Rabat, with the Chairman of the Bundestag’s Parliamentary Friendship Group for Relations with the Maghreb States, Carl-Julius Cronenberg, who is visiting Morocco at the head of a parliamentary delegation.
According to the House of Representatives, the meeting was an opportunity to praise the solid Moroccan-German parliamentary relations and examine ways of strengthening bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two legislative institutions in order to establish it as a “fundamental pillar of relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic, trade, and investment sectors”.
On this occasion, Talbi Alami commended the close cooperation between the House of Representatives and the German Parliament, particularly in terms of support for the archiving and digitization of the House’s activities.
The Moroccan official also recalled the major projects initiated by the Kingdom under the Enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in terms of renewable energies, the fight against drought and global warming, the production of green hydrogen, seawater desalination, food security, and the construction of the Dakhla Atlantic port in addition to the establishment of a mega economic integration hub bringing together 23 African countries on the Atlantic seaboard.
For his part, the German parliamentarian emphasized the great importance of his visit to Morocco, the first by this group to a foreign country, shedding light on the privileged relations between the two countries, particularly at the parliamentary level.
Cronenberg stressed that exchanges between Morocco and Germany are ongoing at the highest level and cover all subjects of common interest.
The German official also hailed the quality of relations between the two countries, particularly in the economic sphere, “which is progressing on a daily basis”, expressing his hope that these relations would be further strengthened to encompass other sectors, notably renewable energies and the production of green hydrogen.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the Chairwoman of the Morocco-German Parliamentary Friendship Group, Naima El Fathaoui, and the German Ambassador to Morocco, Robert Dölger, Cronenberg affirmed German companies’ readiness to increase investment volume in Morocco, noting that the German Parliament is committed to supporting and strengthening this dynamic.
