The prestigious Condé Nast Traveller magazine named the Kingdom’s capital Rabat, home to a transformational cultural and artistic dynamic, among Africa’s top destinations in 2024.
The magazine noted that “Rabat may be one of the country’s four imperial cities, but it’s long been bypassed by travelers drawn to the timeworn beauty of places like Marrakech, Fez, and Tangier,” adding that the situation “may change in 2024 as Rabat undergoes a profound cultural and artistic transformation”.
The travel magazine stated that Mohammed VI Tower will be one of Morocco’s main tourist attractions in 2024, recalling that this LEED-Gold and HQE-certified building will be the tallest of its kind in Africa.
The magazine also cited the new Grand Theatre of Rabat among the capital’s attractions, noting that this multifunctional cultural venue, designed by renowned architect Zaha Hadid, is set to become the largest theater in the Arab world and Africa.
The magazine recalled that Rabat will host Africa’s biggest festival, Mawazine, which will make a comeback in the summer of 2024 after a hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“There’s no word on a lineup yet, but in the past Africa’s largest festival has drawn A-listers like Rihanna and Mariah Carey,” stressed the publication, shedding light on the forthcoming opening of numerous luxury hotels.
