Upon Very High Royal Instructions, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, represented His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist Him, at the festivities marking the 50th anniversary of Guinea-Bissau’s Independence Day.
The festivities were attended by several Heads of State and Government, senior Guinea-Bissau officials, and foreign personalities.
Guinea-Bissau celebrated, on November 16, the 50th anniversary of its independence, an event that coincided with the 59th anniversary of the creation of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of the People (FARP).
Several African leaders and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Guinea-Bissau attended the different festivities, which were characterized by a civilian and military parade.
In a speech on this occasion, Guinea-Bissau’s President H.E. Umaro Sissoco Embalo paid a heartfelt tribute to the independence heroes, calling on “the entire Guinean population” to “remain united in order to win the war against poverty and strive for further development for the country”.
