Morocco and Azerbaijan signed, on November 13 in Rabat, five agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen cooperation in several fields.
Signed on the occasion of the second Joint Morocco-Azerbaijan Cooperation Commission by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Jeyhun Bayramov, these agreements and memorandums focus on the fields of logistics, energy, environment and sustainable development, labor legislation, and health and medical sciences.
The first agreement signed is a Framework Cooperation Agreement, which aims to establish mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in the field of logistics and facilitate and rationalize logistics flows through the development of logistics centers, the improvement of commercial logistics chains, the development of cooperation between logistics training institutes, and the encouragement of the exchange of logistics expertise.
The second agreement seeks to enable the two parties to exchange information on ways to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of oil and gas, explore prospects for cooperation in energy-related services, conduct scientific and technical research of common interest in the field of energy, and cooperate in the field of renewable energies and their optimal use.
The two parties also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at developing bilateral cooperation in the field of environmental protection and the reasonable use of natural resources, through the joint implementation of activities in the areas of climate change adaptation, green economy, the prevention of marine pollution, and environmental and sustainable development learning.
Another memorandum of understanding (MoU) was also signed between Morocco’s Ministry of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.
This memorandum aims to enable the parties to carry out joint activities to ensure the application of labor legislation in both countries, ensure occupational safety and health, settle labor disputes, develop labor market policies, improve the performance of employment services, enhance the quality of the workforce, and increase qualifications in the job market.
The last memorandum was signed between Morocco’s Ministry of Health and Social Protection and its Azerbaijani counterpart to promote cooperation in the field of health and medical science through the exchange of expertise and the sharing of health-related knowledge, the prevention of chronic diseases, raising awareness of diseases and ensuring access to medical care for people with disabilities.
