The leaders of the countries that participated in the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit, which was held in Riyadh on November 11, affirmed their support for the efforts of Al-Quds Committee, chaired by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah glorify Him.
Following the extraordinary summit, the leaders adopted a resolution in which they expressed this support and shed light on the on-ground actions undertaken to alleviate the suffering of the Maqdessis after the escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories and encourage the inhabitants of Al-Quds to resist and preserve the legal and symbolic status of the holy city.
The Arab and Muslim leaders also stressed the need for the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to adopt an urgent, binding resolution to implement a ceasefire, put an immediate end to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people to guarantee the protection of civilians, end the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip, and enable urgent humanitarian aid and relief supplies to be delivered sustainably.
The leaders explained that any delay in establishing a ceasefire would increase the chances of a regional widening of the conflict.
Morocco, who chaired the extraordinary session of the Arab League (AL) Council at the Foreign Minister level on October 11 in Cairo, warned that further escalation in the region could extend the scope of the confrontations and fuel violence and counter-violence, which could jeopardize the remaining hopes of the population for a lasting and comprehensive peace.
This situation calls on the international community, the acting powers, and the permanent members of the Security Council, to assess the effectiveness of their approach to this chronic crisis.
His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may Allah assist him, was represented at this Summit by the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.
The Moroccan delegation to this high-level meeting included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Morocco’s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League (AL), Ahmed Tazi, Morocco’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Permanent Representative to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Mustapha Mansouri, and Director of Mashreq, Gulf, Arab, and Islamic Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Fouad Akhrif.
