The Pan-African Parliament’s (PAP) Committee on Trade, Customs, and Immigration praised, on November 8, the “international visionary” initiative of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to promote access to the Atlantic for Sahelian countries.
In a press release, the Committee commended this initiative by His Majesty the King, recalling that the Sovereign had emphasized, in his speech on the occasion of the 48th anniversary of the Glorious Green March, the urgent need to address the significant infrastructure and investment deficit in Africa’s Atlantic coast region, which is rich in skilled human capital and abundant natural resources.
“The Moroccan proposal aims to address these challenges by establishing a solid institutional framework uniting the twenty-three African countries bordering the Atlantic,” noted the Johannesburg-based pan-African legislative institution, adding that the Royal Initiative’s main objective is to promote security, stability, and shared prosperity within the region.
The Committee stated that this noble Initiative will undoubtedly lead to a fundamental economic transformation within the region and boost trade and the networking of people, goods, and services.
The PAP’s Committee on Trade, Customs, and Immigration also affirmed its full support for this “ambitious and inclusive Vision”, aimed at bringing a prosperous and interconnected Africa to life, calling on leaders and stakeholders to support this initiative.
