Moroccan tennis player Aya El Aouni won, on October 22 in Greece, the W15 Heraklion tennis tournament, beating No. 4 seed Claudia Hoste Ferrer of Spain, in three sets (2-6, 6-4, 6-3).
With this victory in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) Women’s World Tennis Tour, 18-year-old Aya El Aouni snatched her first-ever professional title.
In this tournament, the young Moroccan champion displayed a brilliant performance to claim the title.
In the first round, El Aouni defeated Slovakia’s Karolina Krajmer in two sets (6-2, 6-4), Brazil’s Ana Candiotto in the round of 16 (6-4, 6-4), and Romania’s Simona Ogescu in the quarter-finals (6-1, 1-6, 6-4), before winning against No. 2 seed Mara Guth of Germany in the semi-finals (0-6, 6-4, 6-4).
