According to information provided by the services of the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST) and as part of its ongoing efforts to neutralize the dangers of terrorist threats, the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ), arrested in the early morning of October 19, four individuals or their alleged involvement in the preparation of dangerous terrorist projects targeting the Kingdom’s security and stability.
A statement by DGST announced that members of DGST’s Special Force intervened and arrested the suspects, aged between 25 and 32, in separate operations conducted in the cities of Tangier, Tetouan, and Inezgane Ait Melloul.
The statement affirmed that searches carried out at the homes of the suspects led to the seizing of electronic equipment, edged weapons, documents promoting the ideology of “Daesh”, a manuscript on how to join the camps of this organization in the Sahel region, as well as photos documenting terrorist attacks carried out by factions of this organization and calling on its supporters to fight within its ranges.
The same source reported that preliminary investigation showed that the suspects, who pledged allegiance to the so-called caliph of “Daesh”, were planning to carry out terrorist projects targeting vital facilities and security institutions as part of “individual terrorism” operations, noting that the searches also revealed that one of the suspects underwent training in mountainous and forested areas as part of preparations to carry out his terrorist plan.
The suspects were taken into custody for further judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office in charge of terrorism cases, to identify all their terrorist plans and projects, and elucidate the possible links of these individuals to terrorist organizations abroad.
This security operation was carried out in a context marked by the growing threat posed by “Daech” and other terrorist organizations around the world.
