Minister of Economy and Finance, Nadia Fettah, held talks on October 11 in Marrakech with the US Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, on the sidelines of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank (WB) Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
During the meeting, the two parties discussed the structural reforms undertaken by Morocco under the Enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in the economic and social fields.
On this occasion, the Moroccan minister shed light on the Kingdom’s positive contribution to the global reform agenda to meet the different challenges facing the world, particularly Africa.
Minister Alaoui outlined the post-earthquake reconstruction plan, highlighting the main measures that have been deployed to assist the affected populations in accordance with the High Directives of His Majesty the King.
The Moroccan official also recalled the launch of a MAD 120 billion reconstruction program for the regions affected by the earthquake.
For her part, Yellen praised the Kingdom’s resilience and efforts to cope with the aftermath of the disaster.
The meeting, which was attended by several senior officials from the US Treasury Department, was an opportunity to examine bilateral economic relations and the prospects for further strengthening them.
