President of the Palestinian Moroccan Friendship Society, Mohammed Ziyad Al Jabari, emphasized on October 4 the growing international support for Morocco’s legitimate rights to its Sahara.
Intervening before the members of the Fourth Committee (4C) of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Al Jabari stressed that the Kingdom had achieved “positive gains” on the subject of the Kingdom’s first national cause, citing the United States’ recognition of the Moroccanity of the Sahara and the support of several countries such as Germany and Spain for the Autonomy Plan presented by the Kingdom in 2007.
The official noted that the Moroccan Autonomy Plan is the “solid basis” for achieving a definitive, just, and mutually acceptable political solution to this regional dispute, within the framework of Morocco’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity, recalling that a significant number of countries have inaugurated consulates general in the cities of Laâyoune and Dakhla.
Al Jabari also called on all parties to the conflict, including Algeria, to commit to the round-table process under the aegis of the United Nations (UN) to reach a definitive settlement to this artificial regional dispute on the basis of the Moroccan Autonomy Plan.
Referring to Moroccan-Palestinian relations, the President of the Palestinian Moroccan Friendship Society stressed that His Majesty King Mohammed VI had reaffirmed time and time again Morocco’s constant position in support of the Palestinian cause and the legitimate rights of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish their independent state, stressing that Morocco places the Palestinian cause on the same level as the subject of the Moroccan Sahara.
The Palestinian official also denounced the actions of the armed separatist “polisario” militias, which violate United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions and threaten peace and security in the region.
