Jordanian PM Sheds Light on Solid Relations between Morocco, Jordan

Jordanian Prime Minister, Bisher Khasawneh, highlighted, on September 4 in Amman, the solid fraternal and cooperative relations uniting Morocco and Jordan, as well as the deep friendship bonds between the two brotherly peoples, under the Wise Leadership of the two Sovereigns, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His Majesty King Abdullah II.

During a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Councilors, Enaam Mayara, the Jordanian Head of Government stated that Morocco and Jordan’s “bilateral relations are rooted in history and enjoy constant high-level support in all areas.”

Khasawneh praised the convergence of the two countries’ views on several Arab, regional, and international issues, notably their firm position in support of the Palestinian cause, which consists in finding a just and lasting settlement, within the framework of the two-state solution, guaranteeing the establishment of an independent Palestinian State within the June 4, 1967, borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Khasawneh also shed light on the complementarity between the two Kingdoms in this respect and their historic role in supporting and defending the Palestinian cause, with His Majesty King Mohammed VI as Chairman of Al-Quds Committee and His Majesty King Abdullah II as the Hashemite Guardian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Al-Quds.

The Jordanian Prime Minister stressed the importance of further strengthening bilateral cooperation in several fields, calling on the High Morocco-Jordan Joint Cooperation Committee to hold a meeting to examine different cooperation prospects and the development of its mechanisms in the best interest of the two countries.

For his part, Mayara praised the level of fraternal relations uniting the two Kingdoms, under the wise leadership of the two Sovereigns, stressing the imperative of further developing these ties and broadening the scope of cooperation in all sectors.

The Moroccan official also commended the efforts invested by the Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Fraternity Committee to promote the exchange of expertise, emphasizing the need to boost economic cooperation between the two countries to raise it to the level of their fraternal ties and strategic relationship at the political and diplomatic levels.

Mayara also stressed the importance of consolidating parliamentary cooperation through the exchange of expertise in all areas of common interest.

The meeting between Mayara and Khasawneh was attended by the Chargé d’Affaires at the Moroccan Embassy in Amman, Adil Oussihamou, Minister of State at the Jordanian Prime Minister’s Office, Ibrahim Al-Jazi, Minister of Political and Parliamentary Affairs, Wajih Azaiza, and President of the Morocco-Jordan Parliamentary Fraternity Committee, Mohammad Daoudiyeh.

Mayara is accompanied by a large parliamentary delegation including President of the Parliamentary Group of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM), Abdelilah Hifdi, President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group at the House of Councilors, Mohammed Bakouri, President of the Authenticity and Modernity (PAM) group at the House of Councilors, Abdelkrim Al-Hams, President of the Morocco-Jordanian Fraternity Committee at the House of Councilors, Abderrahmane Idrissi, Secretary General of the House of Councilors, Assad Zerouali, Chief of Staff to the Speaker of the Chamber of Councilors, Zakaria Hanini, Director of External Relations and Communication, Saad Ghazi, and Head of Multilateral Relations, Mohammed Tayeb Al-Cohen.

The Speaker of the House of Councilors held talks, on September 3, with President of the Jordanian Senate, Faisal Akef Al Fayez, and President of the House of Representatives, Ahmed Safadi on ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation.

This visit is part of broad efforts to consolidate the exceptional relations between Morocco and Jordan, strengthen joint parliamentary action, reinforce bilateral cooperation in all fields and on issues of common interest, and further promote coordination and consultation in different international forums.
