President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP), Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, praised, on June 14 in Marrakech, the message addressed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to participants in the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, affirming that His Majesty’s message reflects Morocco’s constant commitment to spreading tolerance and peace in the world.
Following his talks with the Speakers of the House of Representatives and Councilors on the sidelines of the conference, underway until June 15 under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Al Jarwan stated that “the participants are familiar with the distinguished and positive messages conveyed by His Majesty the King in support of humanity.”
The Emirati diplomat explained that the Royal Message covers important themes and axes which are at the heart of the conference’s discussions, adding that this message is a roadmap for participants to follow in implementing its guidelines based on a global approach to initiatives and several partnerships.
Referring to his high-level discussions with the Speakers of the two Houses of the Moroccan Parliament, which focused on the promotion of tolerance and peace, Al Jarwan praised the success of this Conference in terms of organization, themes, and panels, and the participants’ remarkable attendance, commending the quality of discussions in light of the Royal message aimed at preserving humanity through religion.
The President of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) also underlined the role of academics and religious leaders in promoting tolerance and peace in academic and parliamentary work and in international partnerships to achieve the goals of humanity and convey the heavenly message.
Co-organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the Moroccan Parliament, in partnership with “Religions for Peace” and with the support of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the Mohammedia League of Ulema, this conference was attended by parliamentarians, religious leaders, and representatives of civil society, who engaged in constructive dialogue and exchanged knowledge in an attempt to resolve the main problems preventing sustainable coexistence.
This international conference reflects the critical and diverse roles played by the national parliament, which draws inspiration from the Kingdom’s thousand-year-old history, rich in landmark episodes and strong examples of religious tolerance and coexistence.
