The Moroccan delegation included the Secretary General of Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection, Nouzha Alaoui, the Foundation’s Director of Partnerships, Kenza Khalafi, the Director of Partnership, Communication, and Cooperation at the Ministry of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Rachid Firadi, and the Director of Climate Change, Biodiversity, and the Green Economy at the Ministry of Environment, Razi Bouzekri.
The delegation held talks with the Emirati Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, President-designate of COP 28, Sultan Al-Jaber, CEO of COP 28, Adnan Amin, and Director-General of COP 28, Majid Al-Suwaidi.
This two-day visit, also attended by the Chargé d’Affaires of the Moroccan Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Abdelilah Oudades, was an opportunity to examine ways of supporting the Emirati presidency of COP 28 and ensure Morocco’s distinguished participation in this conference.
The discussions highlighted the Moroccan expertise in organizing the 22nd Conference of the Parties to the United Nations (UN) Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 22), the Kingdom’s initiatives, and the partnerships it has forged within the framework of the fight against climate change. On this occasion, Emirati officials praised Morocco’s involvement and commitment, in line with the Wise Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
The late His Majesty King Hassan II and the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan laid the foundations of Morocco-UAE relations that are characterized by their historical and cultural depth.
These intense relations are distinguished by their constant development in all fields under the reign of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and his brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
