The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, affirmed, on May 22 in Rabat, Morocco’s strong condemnation of the latest incursion, on May 21, of an Israeli government official into al-Aqsa Mosque.
During a press briefing, Bourita stated that such incursions “have become frequent and repetitive,” underlining that Morocco calls for the immediate cessation of all actions affecting the legal and historical status of the Holy City.
The Foreign Minister also stressed that such violations in the occupied al-Quds and al-Aqsa Mosque are unanimously and internationally rejected as they only fuel tensions, jeopardize efforts to pacify the occupied Palestinian territories, and negatively impact peace and security in the region.
In a similar context, Bourita emphasized that Morocco, under the High Directives of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, remains fully convinced that dialogue and negotiation are the only way to resolve the Palestinian issue, through the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the borders of July 1967, with East al-Quds as its capital.
The Moroccan official also called for an end to these provocations given their negative impact and contribution to extremism and violence in the region.
