The works of the 8th session of the Permanent Joint Commission (PJC) between the Moroccan Government and the governments of the Walloon Region and the French Community Wallonia-Brussels kicked off Monday in Rabat.
This session focuses on five main partnership areas for the period 2023-2027, notably education, sports, higher education and scientific research, culture, youth and communication, energy and water-energy nexus, regionalization and evaluation of public policies, and entrepreneurship, vocational training, and social cohesion.
Intervening at the inauguration of the Commission, the Director of Cooperation and Cultural Action at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nadia El Hnot, stressed the important role that the Commission plays as a tool of cooperation in strengthening relations between Morocco and the Walloon region, adding that the Commission “has grown to become a key space for dialogue and exchange” between Moroccan and Belgian partners.
El Hnot stressed that the Permanent Joint Commission (PJC) aims to focus on a “win-win approach that considers the opportunities for expanding collaborations between public and private operators,” adding that the Commission plans to support reforms and development strategies of Moroccan public services with ministerial departments as key actors of change while accompanying civil society, cultural, academic, and economic actors.
On the sidelines of the Joint Commission, two projects will be signed, namely the renewal of the partnership charter relating to the program of openness to languages and cultures, and the agreement between AWEX (Walloon Export Agency) and the Moroccan Agency for Development of Investment and Exports (AMDIE) to encourage the exchange of expertise in the fields of exports and investment.
Co-chaired by the Director of Cooperation and Cultural Action at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nadia El Hnot, and the General Administrator of Wallonia-Brussels International (WBI), Pascale Delcomminette, the Permanent Joint Commission (PJC) held its last edition in Brussels in 2017.
