The Arab Parliament called for respecting the framework agreement in Sudan aimed at restoring peace and achieving a definitive political solution to the crisis.
In the final declaration following its meeting, held Sunday at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL) in Cairo, the Arab Parliament called for an immediate and permanent ceasefire to save the Sudanese people, protect their property and restore security and stability in the country.
The Parliament also stressed the imperative of preserving Sudanese territories and army unity, firmly rejecting any external interference in Sudan’s internal affairs, that aims to prolong the conflict and encourage it among the people.
In a similar context, the Arab Parliament urged the international community to urgently provide all available medical and economic assistance to Sudan to help the country overcome its current tragic health crisis, especially following the closure of over half of Sudan’s hospitals since the outbreak of the conflict.
The Moroccan delegation to this meeting included the President of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) group at the House of Councilors, member of the parliamentary caucus of the Arab Parliament and president of the Arab Committee for Food Security, Mohamed Bakkouri, Vice-President of the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural, Women, and Youth Affairs, Khadija Hajjoubi (Authenticity and Modernity Parliamentary Group), member of the Committee on Legislative, Legal and Human Rights Affairs, Mohamed Ayach (National Rally of Independents), and member of the Committee on Finance and Economic Development, Mohamed Lahmouch (Popular Movement).
The four standing committees of the Arab Parliament, namely the Committee on Foreign and Political Affairs and National Security, the Committee on Economic and Financial Affairs, the Committee on Legislative and Legal Affairs and Human Rights, and the Committee on Social, Educational, Cultural, Women and Youth Affairs, concluded their meetings Saturday, April 29.
