The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, and Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Prak Sokhonn, examined, Tuesday in Rabat, ways to strengthen parliamentary cooperation by institutionalizing bilateral and multilateral ties, promoting sustainable communication, creating platforms for dialogue and exchanging expertise.
The House of Representatives reported in a statement that these discussions focused on strengthening the unique ties uniting the two Kingdoms to further advance these ties, noting that these ties are characterized by friendship, mutual respect, continuous consultation, and coordination on matters of common interest.
On this occasion, Sokhonn reiterated his country’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its respect for Morocco’s efforts to reach a credible political solution to the Moroccan Sahara issue.
The Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister, who was on an official visit to Morocco at the head of an important delegation, stressed that the two countries are working to strengthen their relations at the economic, commercial, cultural, educational, and parliamentary levels, noting that meetings with several Moroccan officials were held within this framework.
For his part, Talbi Alami praised Cambodia’s position in support of Morocco’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, recalling the results of his fruitful visit to Cambodia last year within the framework of his participation in the 43rd General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
Affirming that Cambodia is a portal for Morocco to Southeast Asian countries and that Morocco is a portal for Cambodia to Africa, Talbi Alami also shared with the Cambodian official and the delegation accompanying him the Moroccan parliamentary experience, while emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening communication, dialogue, regional and international coordination.
The statement concluded that this meeting was also an opportunity to discuss several regional and international issues of common interest.
