Morocco partakes, as an observer member, in the works of the 28th session of the Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government, held between March 22 and 25 in the Dominican Republic.
Morocco’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Hichame Dahane, represents the Kingdom during this Summit, which is held under the theme “Together towards a fair and sustainable Ibero-America.”
Intervening at the meeting of observer member countries associated with this conference, Dahane recalled the ties uniting Morocco and this interregional grouping since its accession as an observer member in 2010.
While reiterating the Kingdom’s attachment to the Ibero-American area, thanks to the strong historical, cultural, and linguistic affinities and the deep values of solidarity and respect that Morocco shares with the entire Ibero-American community, the diplomat emphasized the numerous sectoral strategies implemented, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, to ensure sustainable social, human, and economic development, which can serve as a model for the region.
Dahane recalled, on this occasion, the joint bid of Morocco, Spain, and Portugal to host the 2030 World Cup, noting that this is a pledge of friendship and commitment by the Kingdom to strengthen its ties with the Ibero-American community and its influence at the international level by bringing people together through sports and culture.
In a similar context, the Moroccan ambassador emphasized the contribution that Morocco is committed to under the framework of the work agenda for the period 2023-2024, under which all observer member states contribute to the implementation of cooperation actions in several areas of mutual interest.
The Moroccan diplomat further stressed that Morocco proposes to develop cooperation in the fields of education, capacity building, and the development of triangular cooperation programs with agencies of member countries of this grouping.
