The Minister of Equipment and Water, Nizar Baraka, met, at the United Nations headquarters in New York, with the Head of the Palestinian Water Authority, Mazen Ghunaim.
This meeting, which took place Wednesday on the sidelines of the United Nations (UN) Water Conference (22-24 March), focused on the roadmap for the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding, signed in 2015, to strengthen cooperation between Morocco and Palestine in the field of water resources.
The two parties also discussed exchanging Morocco’s accumulated expertise and successful practices in the field of water management with Palestine.
Baraka led the Moroccan delegation to the United Nations (UN) Water Conference, which focused on the mid-term review of the implementation of the goals of the Water Action Decade 2018-2028, proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in December 2016.
During the plenary session of the conference, Baraka outlined the main elements of Morocco’s strategy for integrated water resources management. He also stressed that Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has succeeded through its national policies to meet the Kingdom’s water needs, particularly through the improvement of infrastructure.
