The 49th session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) kicked off, Thursday in Nouakchott, with the participation of Morocco.
Morocco is represented in this session, held under the theme “Moderation: Key to Security and Stability,” by a delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita.
The Moroccan delegation also includes the Director of the Mashreq, Gulf, Arab, and Islamic Organizations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Fouad Akhrif, the Head of the Arab and Islamic Organizations Division at the Foreign Ministry, Abdelali Al-Jahed, and the Head of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Division at the Foreign Ministry, El Hassan Badri.
Deputy of Morocco’s Permanent Delegate to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Othman Rehhou, Morocco’s Ambassador to Mauritania, Hamid Chabar, and the Managing Director of Bayt Mal al-Quds Asharif Agency, Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, are also a part of the Moroccan delegation to this session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
This two-day session will cover several issues, namely the Palestinian cause and the developments in Afghanistan and the Sahel region, as well as minorities and Muslim communities in the non-member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, with a focus on the ongoing efforts in countering terrorism, extremism, and Islamophobia.
