Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, and the parliamentary delegation accompanying him held talks, Tuesday in Tokyo, with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan, Hiroyuki Hosoda, the President of the Japanese House of Councillors, Hidehisa Otsugi, and members of the Japan-Morocco Parliamentary Friendship League, presided by Hirofumi Nakasone.
According to a statement by the House of Representatives, these talks focused on ways to strengthen the historical and cultural relations between Morocco and Japan, as well as their distinguished parliamentary relations.
This visit also aims to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral ties through the institutionalization of bilateral and multilateral relations and the creation of spaces for dialogue and the exchange of expertise.
In this regard, Talbi Alami expressed his gratitude to Japanese officials for their warm welcome, and for their country’s position on the issue of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, highlighting the international and regional support that the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara enjoys.
The Lower House seeker further added that Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed 6th, managed to overcome several challenges, and launched major projects including medical coverage, social protection, food security, digital transformation, renewable energy, and the promotion of the agricultural sector.
For their part, Japanese officials expressed their pride in this visit, a milestone in the history of cooperation between the two countries.
In this sense, the Speakers of the two houses of the Japanese Parliament and the president and members of the Japanese-Moroccan friendship league stated that these meetings should strengthen dialogue and constructive and sustainable institutional communication between parliamentarians of the two countries and open promising horizons for multidimensional cooperation in several fields, including trade, science, culture, and tourism.
Officials from the two houses of the Japanese Parliament also stressed the importance of exchanging expertise, especially on issues of common interest and the need to strengthen exchange in the fields of marine fishing, agriculture, and tourism, highlighting the Moroccan national football team’s achievement at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The Moroccan delegation taking part in this visit includes Deputy of the National Rally of Independents parliamentary group, Mohamed Ghayate, Deputy of the Authenticity and Modernity Party parliamentary group, Mohamed Touizi, Deputy of the Istiqlal Party parliamentary group, Nouredine Moudian, and Lahoucine Azougagh from the same party, as well as Deputy of the Socialist Union parliamentary group, Abderrahim Chahid, and Deputy of the Constitutional Union parliamentary group, Chaoui Belassel.
