The 6th edition of the Ministerial Conference of the Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development ”Rabat Process”, kicked off on December 13 in the Spanish city of Cadiz.
This high-level event, which brings together ministers in charge of migration and development affairs, as well as representatives from partner countries and organizations, aims to examine and adopt the Cadiz Political Declaration and the Cadiz Action Plan.
The multi-annual cooperation program sets strategic objectives that will guide the activities of the Rabat Process for the period 2023-2027.
During this event, participants will examine the main challenges facing the Rabat Process Dialogue and identify common solutions. They will also discuss ways to deal with the new factors of migration in the region.
The Cadiz Action Plan will build on the previous multi-annual strategic framework of the Rabat Process, the Marrakech Action Plan, adopted at the previous Ministerial Conference in 2018, and on the Joint Valletta Action Plan, which was adopted by the partners of the Rabat Process and the Khartoum Process in 2018.
Founded in 2006, the Euro-African Dialogue on Migration and Development “Rabat Process” offers a framework for consultation, bringing together countries of origin, transit, and destination of the migration routes linking Central, West, and Northern Africa with Europe.
57 state partners and additional key stakeholders, including the European Union (EU) and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), are involved. The result is an open Dialogue between national authorities about technical and political questions related to migration and development.
