The work of the meeting of foreign ministers of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) kicked off on May 2 in Banjul, Gambia, in preparation for the 15th Islamic Summit Conference scheduled for May 4 and 5 under the theme “Promoting Unity and Solidarity through Dialogue for Sustainable Development”.
At the end of this meeting, the ministers of the OIC member countries will examine the report and the final declaration which will be submitted for approval to the 15th Summit Conference, which will be held in the presence of the leaders and heads of government of the countries of the Organization.
The 15th Islamic Summit Conference scheduled to take place on May 4 will cover political issues of interest to the Islamic world, the most important of which is the Palestinian cause.
Member State leaders will also discuss economic, humanitarian, social, and cultural issues, including those relating to youth, women, the family, science, technology, the media, Muslim communities, the rejection of hate speech and Islamophobia, the promotion of dialogue, as well as issues linked to climate change and food security.
During the Summit, OIC Secretary General Hissein Brahim Taha will present a report dedicated to the activities, programs and projects initiated by the Organization since the previous session of the Islamic Summit Conference.
This 15th session will be sanctioned by a Final Declaration including the positions of the Organization on the issues presented at the Summit, as well as a resolution on Palestine and Al-Quds and the Banjul Declaration.
The Moroccan delegation attending this two-day meeting is led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, who, on the occasion, held a series of meetings with several of his counterparts who are also taking part in this session.
