The 15th edition of the International Agricultural Exhibition in Morocco (SIAM) kicked off Tuesday, May 2, in Meknes, following a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic. This edition will be marked by a series of workshops and conferences on several issues, such as food sovereignty and climate change.
Organized under the theme “Generation Green: for a sustainable food sovereignty,” this edition has selected the UK as a guest of honor, which reflects the excellent relations between Morocco and the UK, and offers, according to the organizers, the participants a unique opportunity to discover and explore the richness and diversity of British agriculture.
The exhibition, one of the largest events on agriculture and the agricultural sector internationally, brings together around 1400 exhibitors from 68 countries and includes a stand dedicated to local products, with the participation of nearly 500 carefully selected cooperatives. The event will allow exhibitors to promote and market their local products and to accompany and support women-run cooperatives.
SIAM, underway in Meknes until May 7, will highlight the latest advances in international research and innovation. This edition also features a platform dedicated to business to facilitate future partnerships in business and trade. In addition, 20 contracts-programs on production chains will be signed to implement the “Green Generation” 2020-2030 strategy.
This year’s edition will host, for the first time, the Village Start-ups Pavilion, which will include round tables, conferences, and simulations. The start-ups aim to present public and private actors with new ways to improve the yield, efficiency, and profitability of the agricultural sector.
According to SNRTnews, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has mobilized significant human and logistical resources to ensure the success of this year’s edition of SIAM.
